FC Dynamo Kyiv left back Vladyslav Dubinchak has shared his impressions of the game against FC Shakhtar Donetsk.
- I think we totally lost the first half. There was only one team on the field – Shakhtar. We didn’t create anything. They totally controlled the game. But I liked the second half. We knew we had nothing to lose, played decently and came back.
When we conceded in the sixth minute due to a mistake, we didn’t realize what happened. We weren’t focused enough. This goal was confusing. That’s why we didn’t play on our level in the first half. But after the break, when we had nothing to lose, we rushed forward and succeeded.
- Vanat scored after your cross. Did you practice that?
- I don’t think it’s about practicing. All wing-backs cross into the box where forwards try to finish. Vanat appeared where he was supposed to be and I crossed where I was supposed to cross.
- There were a lot of provocations…
- It’s a derby, things can’t be different here. These games are always emotional, everyone wants to win. It’s fine, we shook hands after the final whistle.
- Did you get more emotional in the second half?
- The early opener totally ruined our plans. We lost our confidence. We needed a break to focus.
- Dynamo scored the second one in a stoppage time…
- We had really good chances before that – Vanat, Kabayev, Shaparenko. Shakhtar had some opportunities as well. I hope fans liked the game.
- Dynamo often fail in the first half. How come?
- I actually haven’t thought about it. Sometimes we don’t do well before the break. I guess we feel we can do better later. We start carefully, but when we need to win, we get more active.
- You’ve been doing quite a lot of goal involvement lately.
- The fact that I attack is my flaw and strength at the same time. I think I’m more of attacking defender. Now that we’re fighting for the title, I move back more often. Maybe I’m not that good defensively, but I can play attackingly pretty well. When I play a few games in a row, I get more confident.
- Dynamo haven’t suffered a single defeat in the UPL or Ukrainian Cup this season. Do you think of that?
- You don’t get a Cup for the lack of defeats until the final. The major goal is to win the league anyway.
